City of Winnipeg councillors Harvey Smith and Ross Eadiearecalling for Mayor Sam Katz to step down.

Eadie cites news about ballooning costs at the new police headquarters as the reason the mayorshould resign.

He worries the huge cost overrunsat the headquarterson Graham Avenuecould cause plans to be cancelled fora new police station that's supposed to be built in the North End.

Sources have toldCBC News the overruns to transform the former Canada Post building into the police HQare now in the range of an additional $10 millionto $17 million above previouslyreported overruns of $28 million.

Eadie's callcomes on the heels of upheaval at city hall, caused by a scathing fire hall audit, the resignation of CAOPhil Sheegl, and the firing of fire chief Reid Douglas.
