Impaired driving suspected in Dugald and Perimeter crash

One person was airlifted to hospital after a crash at the intersection of Dugald Road and the Perimeter Highway.

Manitoba RCMPsay a woman was driving erraticallywhen she hit another vehicle forcing the driver tohospital in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

STARS air ambulance had to take the 44-year-oldBeausejourwoman to Health Sciences Centre.

The 26-year-old female from Steinbach was driving "in a very dangerous manner" on Wenzel Streetwhen she made her way ontothe Perimeter, RCMP say.

A doctor was onboard the flight, which happens for about 10per centof STARS flights, the spokesperson said.

The crash happenedat the intersection of Dugald Road and the Perimeter Highway when the 26-year-old ran through a red light hitting the second vehicle.

The 26-year-old had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP say impaired driving is believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending against the 26-year-old.

The Winnipeg Police Service and firefighters from the RM of Springfield and Winnipeg also responded.
