CUPE vote on City of Winnipeg deal set for end of June

The City of Winnipeg's largest unionwill vote on a tentative deal later this month.

If members approve the agreement, it will prevent a summer strikeby more than 5,000 city workers.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 500 posted a notice of the vote on Saturday.

Information sessions will be held at the RBC Convention Centre on Wednesday, June 28 at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

According to a post on CUPE's website, that's when members will be able to access terms of the tentative agreement. Members who can't attend can pick up an information packet at the Union Centre, 275 Broadway, after 9 a.m.

Voting will take place Thursday, June 29, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., also at the Convention Centre.
