The city said crews would not be applying malathion Monday due to low temperatures forecast for Winnipeg.

Mosquitoes become less active and less exposed in cool weather, making attempts to fog and curb their urban populations less effective, the city said.

The city does not fog in the rain, if wind speeds are high or if temperatures are predicted to fall below 13 degrees Celsius.Monday night is forecast to dip to 10 degrees Celsius.

The average adult mosquito trap count for Winnipeg Monday was 18.
