Drug bust nets 4 arrests in Winnipeg

Four Winnipeggers face drug-trafficking charges after eight kilograms of cocaine were seized as part of Project Diverge, a five-month police investigation.

The investigation by the Manitoba Integrated Organized Crime Task Force, which includes RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service officers, looked into an alleged drug trafficking network operating in the city.

Three men and one woman, who are between the ages of 29 and 34, were arrested and charged between July 29 and August 19, the task force announced on Friday.

They face charges of possessing cocaine andmethamphetaminefor the purposes of trafficking, possessing the proceeds of crime and possessing a prohibited device or ammunition.

In addition to the eight kilograms of cocaine, police also seized $70,000 in cash, a prohibited magazine cartridge and "a large amount of a cocaine cutting agent," the task force stated in a news release.
