Kevin Lamoureux (Liberal), Levy Abad (NDP), John Redekopp (Green), Harpreet Turka (Conservative)

KevinLamoureux, Liberal

The incumbent for the riding,Lamoureux,52, was born in Winnipeg andhas been married to his high school sweetheartfor more than 30 years.

The couple has two children and two grandchildren.

Lamoureux has been aparliamentarian since 1988 and previously was in the Canadian Forces for three years.

You can find himdriving his 1999 Ford Mustang, listening to All I Have To Do Is Dream by the EverlyBrothers or I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher.

Lamoureux's favourite Manitoba performer is PaulOng, and he prefers the Winnipeg Jets to the Bombers because of the excitement and sense ofcommunity the team brought back to Winnipeg.

The last place Lamoureux travelled to was Ottawa asa member of Parliament.


John Redekopp,Green Party

The 31-year-old was born in Gander, N.L., and lived in Portage la Prairie and Thunder Bay beforesettling in Winnipeg permanently.

Redekopp works fulltime at Siloam Mission and is single with no children. He prefers to bus or walk but cansometimes be seen driving his VolkswagenJetta,listening to the radio.

Redekopp is a fan of footballbut the Winnipeg team he cheers for moreoften is the Winnipeg Jets.

The last time Redekopp was out of town was for a vacation in Florida, buthe will be travelling again soon to join the Elizabeth May campaign in Victoria, B.C., on election night.


Levy Abad, NDP

Abad, 48, was born in Manila,Phillippines, and ismarried with two kids.

When he isn't campaigning, Abad is the executive assistantto MLAFlor Marcelino.

A singer and songwriter, Abad enjoys folk music, and his favouriteCanadian performer is Gordon Lightfoot. Abad is a Winnipeg Jets fan, so much so he wrote about them in one of his songs, Never Give Up.

He drives a 1995 Toyota Camry and the last time Abad travelled outside of Winnipeg was to Toronto.


Harpreet Turka, Conservative

Turkahasexperience in the telecommunications and oil and gas industries,according to his biography on the Conservative Partywebsite,

Prior to his professional career, he pursued an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba, majoring in political science.

As a community activist he has voiced his support forlocal not-for-profit organizationsand hashelped fundraise forthe Never Alone Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society and Canadian Red Cross.

Turka is also an avid supporter of the arts and has been involved in local film and television productions.
