Terry Duguid,Liberal

Duguid is looking to reclaim Winnipeg South for the Liberal Party nearly a decade after his party lost the riding to the Conservatives.

The married father of two is no stranger to politics, having served asthe executive director of the Manitoba Liberal Party in the 1980sand as a Winnipeg city councillorfrom 1989 to 1995. This is his fourth run at Parliament after he made unsuccessful bids in 2004, 2006 and 2011, whenhe finished second to the Conservatives.

Duguid loves that the Jets have put Winnipeg back on the international stage and the tradition the Blue Bombers bring to the province.

His favourite Manitoba performer is Neil Young and he enjoys Pink's Try on occasion while listening to his iPod in his Ford Escape.

He travelled to France on a research assignment in 2014.


BrianneGoertzen,NDP

The 30-year-old wife and mother is originally fromNiagara Falls, Ont.

Goertzen is the Manitoba organizer forthe Canadian Federation of Students and though she doesn't have a lot of time to follow sports at the moment, sheis still rooting for the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a team she feels everyone from Manitoba should follow and support.

She last left Manitoba for a trip back toOntario for her father-in-law's 60th birthday.

Adam Smith,Green Party

The 27-year-old lifelong Winnipegger is a big fan of the Winnipeg Jets and also of comedy.

In particular, Smith enjoyscomedians from Winnipeg, including Week Thus Far, a late-night talk show on Shaw TV that featuresup-and-coming comedians from across the city.

His last foray out of the province was for a wedding in Kelowna, B.C.

If you catch him out driving his Pontiac G6, you just might find him listening to Hold On I'm Coming by Sam and Dave.


Gordon Giesbrecht,Conservative

Giesbrecht did not participate in the CBC-Red River College project.

Aphysiologist who operates the Laboratory for Exercise and Environmental Medicine at theUniversity of Manitoba,Giesbrechtis knownfor hisstudies on the effects of extreme environments, including cold, heat, hypoxiaandhypobaria,on the humanbody.

He is also the co-author ofmedical guidelines for frostbite and hypothermia for the Wilderness Medical Society and the state of Alaska.

Giesbrechtisa husband, father and grandfather who loves family and family tradition, according to his campaign website.
