Blizzard could disrupt Winnipeg home care services Friday

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is warning Winnipeggers who rely on home care their service might be delayed or cancelled Friday due to a blizzard in the forecast.

A coming winter storm could keep some Winnipeggerswho rely on home care from getting the service on Friday.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says a blizzard forecast to hit Friday could delay or cancel some home care and other community health services.

The extent of the disruptions will depend on the impact of the storm, but "some weather-related delays or cancellations may be inevitable,"the WRHA said in a news release Thursday.

Environment Canada forecasts Winnipeg will get two to five centimetres of snowand conditions could shift abruptly in the morning.

Whiteout conditions and reduced visibility on roadsare possible aswinds of 80 km/h are forecast for Friday morning, the federal agency said.

Home care clients whose service is disrupted can expect a phone call.

Visits may be rescheduled, depending on thenature of the service, the health authority said.

Clients who want to cancel or postponetheir Friday appointments in advance can eithercontact their case co-ordinatoror nurse, or call the WRHA after-hours service at 204-788-8331, the health authority said.
