Family holds Winnipeg vigil for missing woman Amber Guiboche

Family and friends of a woman who has been missing for five years held a vigil at The Forks Saturday night to renew calls for justice in her case.

Family and friends of a woman who has been missing for five years held avigil at The Forks Saturday night to renew calls for justice in her case.

"This is our first vigil, this won't be out last," said Ashley Geddes. "We'll never quit until she is found."

Geddes' sister Amber Guiboche had just turned 20-years-old when she went missing Nov. 10, 2010. She was last seen in the area of William Avenue and Isabel Street in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg police are looking for a 30-year-old man with short reddish hair, blondish-reddish arm hair, stubble and who may have been wearing a faded camouflage baseball hat at the time Guiboche went missing. (Winnipeg Police Service)
Police released a vehicle description and sketch of a person of interest in her case in August of 2014, but no other details of her disappearancehave been made public.

Geddessaid the purpose of the vigil was to bring her sister's case back into the spotlight and hopefully influence people in the communityto do more to help give the family closure.

"I'm here today to get answers to where she is, to raise awareness that she's still gone and she's still missed and that we really lover her,"Geddessaid.

"She deserves to be found. She deserves a voice. We are her voice right now and it's really hard to do this."

Guibocheis described asfive-feet-five-inchestall, with hazel-coloured eyesand long, straight brown hair, which she often wearsin a ponytail.She hasathin build and weighsapproximately 105 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a white Adidas hooded sweatshirtwith gold stripes down the sleeves. She was also wearing skinny jeans with whiteandpinkrunners.

Geddes added that regardless of the circumstances that led to her sister's disappearance, the family just wants to know what happened to her.

"If it was an accident even, just come forward we deserve answers,"Geddessaid.
