Pacific Avenue fire sends 1 person to hospital in Winnipeg

One person was taken to hospital after a fire left a house in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue seriously damaged Thursday morning. Winnipeg firefighters also battled a blaze in the 500 block of Oakland Avenue overnight.

One person was taken to hospital in stable condition and two were treated at the scene after a fire left a house in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue seriously damaged Thursday morning.

The woman who rents the home had three guests staying with her when the fire broke out at the back of the house, said Nancy Pereira, who lives on the street.

Firefighters were called to the home in the Pacific Industrial area at 5:10 a.m., police said.

The home was gutted by the blaze.

The fire spread to the houses on either side, police said.

Fire crews also battled a blaze in the500 block of Oakland Avenue overnight.

The fire started in the garageand then spread to the house in the Rossmere area, police said.
