Girl ID'd as victim of Winnipeg HIV assault

A Sudanese man charged for allegedly infecting two Winnipeg women with HIV by failing to disclose his medical status also faces sexual assault charges in connection to a girl under age 16, police said on Wednesday.

A Sudanese man charged for allegedly infecting two Winnipeg women with HIV by failing to disclose his medical status also faces sexual assault charges in connection to a girl under age 16, police said on Wednesday.

Apay Ogouk, 26, was brought back to the city Tuesday after he turned himself in to Calgary police last Friday, police said.

He's being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and made an initial court appearance on Wednesday morning.

Police began an investigation after two women, 29 and 24, came forward tocomplain they had contracted HIV after they had sex witha 26-year-old Sudanese man.Both identified that man as Ogouk and said he removed the condom he was wearing during sex.

On Wednesday,police said Ogoukfaces three counts of aggravated sexual assault, and police confirmed another victim a femaleteenager has come forward.

Police confirmed the newly identified victim was under age 16 at the time of the alleged offence.

Ogouk is also charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police continue to ask anyone who may have information or who has been in contact with Ogouk to call the sex crimes unit at 204-986-6245.
