Headstones damaged in vandalism spree at Winnipeg cemetery

Some 20 headstones were vandalized at Winnipeg's Hebrew Sick Benefit Cemetery, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Some 20 headstones werevandalized at Winnipeg'sHebrew Sick Benefit Cemetery, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

It happenedsometime between the afternoon of May 9 and the morning of Mother's Day, May 11, police said.

Damage is estimated at $40,000 to$60,000.

The cemetery is locatedin the 2600 block of McPhillips Street.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information regarding thevandalism or identity of the suspectsis asked to contact investigators at204-986-2848or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
