Southwestern Manitoba section of Trans-Canada reopens after closure due to poor conditions

A section of the Trans-Canada Highway near Brandon that was closed earlier Saturday has now reopened.

Highway 1 was shut downfrom Highway 1A to Highway 270, according to an update posted onManitoba's highway conditions websiteshortly after noon.

The closure wasdue toinclement weather in southern Manitoba that has resulted in poor road conditions.

It reopened shortly after 3 p.m.

The recent heavy snowfallresulted in reduced visibility in the southwestern Manitoba city.

Highway conditions were deteriorating west to east as snow continued to fall on Saturday.
