Man with gun invades Selkirk home, attacks owner

An armed home invader targeted the wrong house in Selkirk and left empty-handed after attacking the shocked homeowner, say RCMP.
RCMP are looking for the attacker in a home invasion in Selkirk. The man is described as 20 to 30 years old and dressed all in black with a blue bandana.

Police were called around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday about a break-and-enter in progress with the owners still inside the house on North Dominique Drive.

When officers arrived, the attacker who was armed with a gun and "edged weapon" had already left, RCMP said.

The owners told police a man forced his way into the house through a back door. Hemade demands and hitthe male homeownerbut must have realized he had the wrong place and left.

"The homeowner was not seriously injured and at no time was the firearm discharged or the edged weapon used," police said.

The attacker is described as 20 to 30 years old and dressed all in black with a blue bandana.

Selkirk is located about 22 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
