New arrest made in death of 26-year-old woman in Sagkeeng First Nation

A woman, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide in southeastern Manitoba.

A woman, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide in southeastern Manitoba.

Lexie Fontaine is the second person charged in connection with the death of a 26-year-old woman found on the side of a road in Sagkeeng First Nation, Powerview RCMPsaid in a news release Thursday.

A 15-year-old boy was chargedwith second-degree murder on Wednesday in connection with the homicide,RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

RCMP received a report of a woman being assaulted on Northshore Road in Sagkeeng First Nation,approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, around 12:20 a.m. on Monday. Mounties responding to the callfound the 26-year-old and she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was scheduled forTuesday, RCMP said.

Police said they trackeda suspect to a nearby residence.

RCMP major crimes services continues to investigate.
