Justin Hudson pleads guilty to sex assault in attack on teen

A suspect accused in the brutal attack against a First Nations teen in Winnipeg last year has pleaded guilty.

One of two suspects accused in the brutal attack against a First Nations teen in Winnipeg last year has pleaded guilty.

Justin Hudson, 21, was charged with attempted murder after a16-year-old girlwas assaulted twice Nov. 7, 2014, and left for dead by the Assiniboine River.A 17-year-old,whose identity is protected by law, was also accused in the case.

On Monday, Crown attorney DebbieBuorsconfirmed Hudson admitted to his involvement in the attack. He pleaded guilty to two counts ofaggravatedsexual assault.

The teen has made a full recovery. Her attack shed a spotlight on the kinds ofrisks commonlyfaced by indigenous women in Canada.

Hudson and the co-accused 17-year-old were also suspects in another attack on a 23-year-old woman the same weekend the 16-year-old was assaulted.
