Northwest Winnipeg has unseated Transcona as the most litter-strewn area of the city.

The litter index, which ranks the state of the city's neighbourhoodsafter the snow has melted away, is put out annually byTake Pride Winnipeg.

For the purposes of the index, the city is divided into 12 areas andrated on a scale of 1-4 with the dirtiest areas getting higher scores.

The average score for Winnipeg as a whole this year was 2.32, which is a big jump from the previous two years. It was2.19 in 2015 and2.14 in 2014.

  • Area 1:Northwest Average score: 2.85

Worst Streets: Keewatin Street between Notre Dame Street and Logan Avenue, Oak Point Highwayto the Perimeter Highway, Perimeter from Oak Point to McPhillips, Kinver Avenue between Keewatin Street andGarden Grove Drive, Selkirk Avenue between Keewatin Street and Sheppard Street, Burrows fromKeewatin to McPhillips.

  • Area 2: North/Central Average score: 2.54
