Boy suffers life-altering injuries after machete attack by 15-year-old in Winnipeg

A boy was knocked to the ground where he was kicked, punched and struck with a machete, leaving him withlife-altering injuries, say Winnipeg police.

A boy was knocked to the ground where he was kicked, punched and struck with a machete, leaving him withlife-altering injuries, say Winnipeg police.

The alleged attacker, a 15-year-old boy ischarged with numerous offences.

Police were called about the incident on Selkirk Avenue, near Aikins Street, around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The victim, who is also 15,was suffering from extensive serious injuries and rushed to hospital in critical condition, police said in a news release on Monday.

The attacker was arrested one street over, on Flora Avenue, a short time later. The victimhas since been upgraded to stable condition, police said.

The two boysbecame involved in a dispute that quicklyescalated to the attack, police said, adding the boys did not know one another prior to the incident.

The attacker has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a weapon, and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
