Some schools, buses cancelled in Manitoba as storm cleanup continues

Some schools in western Manitoba are closed Tuesday, while a few school divisions have cancelled bus service as people continue to dig out from a winter storm that dumped snow across much of the region.

All weather alerts in Manitoba have been lifted with a warming trend on the way

Some schools in western Manitoba are closed Tuesday, while a few school divisions have cancelled bus service as people continue to dig out from a winter storm that dumped snow across much of the region.

Prairie Spirit School Division has cancelled classes at schools in Manitou,St. Claude,Treherne,Holland,Swan Lake and Somerset.

Most schools are open in the Park West School Division and Rolling River School Division but the buses are not running. Colony schools in Rolling River areclosed for the day.

Brandon School Division buses aren't operating outside the city. Spring Valley School is closed butAlexander School and O'KellySchool are open.

Heavy snowfall started Sunday, and by Monday morning, Brandon had received 22 to 29 centimetres,Environment Canada said.

Other totals in southwestern Manitoba ranged from 21-25 centimetres. The Red River Valley area, including Winnipeg, saw totals of five to 12 cm, the weather agency said.

All weather alerts that impacted Manitoba over the past couple of days have now been lifted, with above-seasonal temperatures expected by the weekend.

The normal high for this time of year in southern Manitoba is around4 C. The forecast is for 6 C by Sunday.
