The Burrowsriding has been around since 1958. The Winnipeg riding takes up an older part of the city's North End, bounded by Keewatin Street, Selkirk Avenue and the CP Railway in the west, the CPR main line in the south, Arlington Street, Inkster Boulevard and McPhillips Street in the east and Jefferson Avenue and AdsumDrive in the north.

The ridingincludesthe Inkster Industrial Park, Shaughnessy Heights and Burrows Central neighbourhoods.

Its population is 23,755, according to the province's 2018 riding profile. More than 49 per cent of its residents identified as immigrants in the 2016 census.

• The riding's language makeup is diverse, with many residents speaking languages other than English most of the time at home.
• According to the 2016 census, just over 57 per cent of residents spoke English most of the time at home, with Tagalog (15.4 per cent) and Punjabi (four per cent) making up the majority of single-language, non-English speaking homes, in addition to almost 18 per cent of respondents who said they speak more than one language at home.

Voting history

The riding has leaned left for decades. It was represented by the precursor to the NDP, theCo-operative Commonwealth Federation, from 1958 until 1962, and has bounced between the Liberals and the NDP ever since. Most recently, voters elected Liberal MLA Cindy Lamoureux in the 2016 election.
