Manitoba judges win latest round over pay hike

A Manitoba Court of Appeal ruling out Wednesday says the provincial government should give judges a salary increase.

Fight to win pay raise has taken 5 years

A Manitoba Court of Appeal ruling on Wednesdaysays the provincial government should give judges asalary increase.

Five years agoan independent committee of the legislature recommended bumping provincial judges' salaries byfive per cent in 2009 and 2010.

The government rejected that, and offered 2.9 per cent increase the first year andone per cent the secondyear.

The Provincial Judges Association of Manitoba took the government to court and won.

The government appealed and has now lost. The province is reviewing the judgment.
