7 stores now licensed to sell legal weed in Manitoba

If you're looking to getcannabis in Manitoba, you'll have a few legaloptions.

As of Wednesday, Oct. 17, seven retail cannabis stores have been given the OK to open by the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba.

After six stores openedon the first day legal cannabis could be sold, the LCGA announced it had granted a licence to a seventh location a Tokyo Smoke shop on Arthur Street in Winnipeg.

Cannabis producer and retailer Delta 9 says it plans to deliver its product within four to five hours of orders being placed in Winnipeg using its bonded carrier, called Pineapple Express.

The company is aiming to reduce the wait to about an hour.

"We know these first days will be extremely busy," saidDelta 9 CEOJohnArbuthnot.

"But while we work out the kinks in the new system we will still try our best to get our products to the customer within a few hours."

In Winnipeg, five stores opened on the first day of legalized recreational cannabis:

• Delta 9 Cannabis Store, Unit 1-827 Dakota St.
• Hiku/Tokyo Smoke, 55B Goulet St.
• Meta Cannabis Supply Co./National Access Cannabis, Unit 23 - 584 Pembina Hwy.
• Tweed/Canopy, 120 Osborne St.
• Tweed/Canopy, 1592 Regent Ave.

A sixth store opened in Dauphin, operated byTweed/Canopy. That store is located at 1450 Main St. S.

On Wednesday, the LGCArevealed it had granted a licence to a seventh retailer in the province, run by Hiku/Tokyo Smoke at 54 - 70 Arthur St. in Winnipeg.

Other prospective cannabis retailers are working on getting stores ready to open, LGCAsays, so this list may be subject to change.
