Manitobans say they won't let the rainy weather dampen their spirits ahead of the Canada Day weekend though theforecast may mean some will have to adjust their plans so they don't get completely soaked.

Environment Canada is forecasting between 15 and 30 millimetres of rain in some parts of southern Manitoba Friday evening.

Stephen Berg, meteorologist with the federal agency, says that while the weekend forecast looks "pretty reasonable," there will be another bout of rain towardCanada Day and even potential for thunderstorms.

"It's been a little bit on the cool and wet side, that's for sure," Berg said.

"Looks like, it'll be kind of more of the same forthis coming week. But beyond that, it looks like it starts to clear out a little bit later."

But some Winnipeggerswho were at The Forks Fridaywerenevertheless still keen to ask where the summer went.

"I think Mother Nature doesn't know what to do,because one day she's gorgeousblue skies, and the next day, three inches of rain," said Greg Soubry, who said he and his wife, Judy, haven't been able to bike as much as they would like.

"It's bizarre. And then out comethe mosquitoes."

Lise Brown, an outdoor educator, says she has no other choice but to face the elements.

She's keeping things positive.

"I think every weather system has a gift for us so that we can enjoy all weather, all year round," she said. "I was hoping to do some gardening, but I'll have to wait till it dries up a little bit."

Brown said she still plans to go out camping, though with some precautions: "A rain jacket, a good shelter and good friends, and good food."

Trevor Barratt is preparing to go to Clear Lake in his camper, a family tradition.

"The mosquitoes are going to be probably really bad, but we will set a tarp, then the tent, play some board games and make the best of it," he said.

"It's going to suck a little bit, but it's more for the experience and for connecting with friends and family."

"I actually enjoy the rain," said Emily Shand. "You can still get out and do some things. Kids really like to play in puddles."
