Lakeside is one of Manitoba's oldest ridings, having been on the books since 1886.

The riding is northwest of Winnipeg and southeast of Lake Manitoba, and runs from Komarno in the north to just south of Springstein in the south.

In the 2018 riding redistribution, it lost a portion of its northern territory to Interlake-Gimli (previously called Interlake), but gained a chunk in the southwest from the neighbouring riding of Morris.

The riding captures many towns, villages and farming communities, including Stonewall, Stony Mountain, Teulon, St. Eustache, Elie and Argyle.

The riding's population is 24,540, according to the riding's profile (which includes information compiled from the 2021 census).

The median age of the riding is slightly older than the overall provincial median, at 42.4 compared to 38.4 provincewide, according to the riding profile and the 2021 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $96,000.
