Rain or shine, here's a look at what's open and closed over the May long weekend in Winnipeg.

Rain or shine, here's a look at what's open and closed over the May long weekend in Winnipeg.

Grocery stores:

Grocery stores will have varying hours of operation over the long weekend, but here is a list of stores that will be open on Victoria Day:

  • Walmart will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Superstore will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Safeway and Sobeys stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., depending on the location.
  • Costco will be closed on Monday.

Liquor stores:

All liquor stores in Winnipeg will operate on Sunday's schedule 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, with the exception of True North Square Liquor Mart, which will be closed.

Liquor stores in Brandon and rural communities will also openfrom 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

City services:

All City of Winnipeg offices will be closed on Victoria Day, but the city's 311 phone servicewill still be available to provide assistance.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority office will be closed over the long weekend, but people can still pay for parking tickets online.

Winnipeg Transit:

On Monday, bus services will operate on Sunday's schedule.

Garbage and recycling:

The garbage, recycling and yard waste services will run as scheduled for people who have Monday as their collection day.To figure out what your collection day is, visit the city's webpage, download the Recyclepedia app, or call 311 or email 311@winnipeg.ca.

Animal services:

Winnipeg's animal services agency will be closed on Monday.

To get more information about renewing or purchasing a pet licence online and look at dogs that are available for adoption, visit the animal services website.

Libraries:

All Winnipeg Public Library locations will be closed on Monday. More information about the library branch locations and hours are available on the city's webpage.

Cemeteries:

Brookside, Transconaand St. Vital cemeteries will remain open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., but the administration office at Brookside Cemetery will be closed on Monday.

Shopping malls:

Kildonan Place, St. Vital Centre, Polo Park, Outlet Collection Winnipeg and Garden City Shopping Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Monday.Portage Place will be closed.

Museums, galleries and activities:

The city's indoor pools, fitness and leisure centres will be closed on Monday with the exception of Pan Am Pool, open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Margaret Grant Pool, open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, open from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Manitoba Museum and the St. Boniface Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will be closed on Monday.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.

The Royal Aviation Museum will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Forks Market will operate under its regular hours over the long weekend, but some tenants may choose to open earlier or later at their discretion.
