Mayor Brian Bowman disappointed with snow clearing in Winnipeg

Winnipeg's mayor is dealing with his first real blast of winter, and he's not entirely happy with what he sees.

In his weekly chat with CBC's Information Radio, Brian Bowman saidhe's disappointed with the snow removal job done over the weekend.

"Quite honestly I'd like to see a better job and I'm always going to be looking for better work and outcomes always, and I thinkWinnipeggersshould expect their mayor to be not satisfied at any time."

Bowman wants moresanding done so the streets aren't so slippery.

"There was a lot of polished areas that you know, I would have loved to have seen a little bit more sanding,"Bowman said.

Winnipeggers have been calling city hall saying they're also concerned about ruts left on the streets.

Bowman said he wants the city toreview the most recent plowing operations.

Later Tuesdaythe city will also release more information about the frozen pipe situation in the city.

Bowman said even though there have been a fewproblems with frozen pipes on private property, so far there are no reports of any frozen pipes on city property.

But if you had frozen pipes last year, the city isn't advising you to start running your water, yet.

"If you are at risk for frozen pipes you will be notified by the city," Bowman said. "My understanding is there's literally been a couple of such notifications."
