CBC's Information Radio's Marcy Markusa interviews Winnipeg mayoral candidate Michel Fillion.

One of the candidates for Winnipeg's mayor is getting his message out in a novel way.

Michel Fillion has posted a video of himself lip syncing to Abba, among other artists.

On CBC's Information Radio with Marcy Markusa, Fillion explained why.

"I used a little lip syncing, a little dancing, just to lighten things up. Because if I used simply just information, people will not be interested. They'll be bored after a while. I mean it's like anything in the campaign you have to lighten things up so that people listen to you."

Fillion wants to raise property taxes, cut business taxes, put more police on foot patrol and improve the transit system.

The candidate said he's using YouTube because it's a better way to let people understandhis positions on municipal issues.

"Usually when candidates say one thing, people hear it," he said. "But the thing is, the next day 50 per cent forgot what you said. So at least this is permanent. They can view it as often [as] they want, when they want. But the thing is, the content is always there."
