Man goes missing while camping in the northern Manitoba bush

A 32-year-old man hasn't been seen since the morning ofMay 16, when he wascamping in the bush with a group of people in northern Manitoba, say RCMP.

A 32-year-old man hasn't been seen since the morning ofMay 16, when he was camping in the bush with a group of people in northern Manitoba, police say.

Christopher Travis McDonald, 32,left the camp offHighway 391 west of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation on foot that morning andhas not been seen since, RCMP said in a news release Thursday. He was reported missing on May 22.

RCMPsay they have conducted extensive patrols and will soon be joined by a search and rescue unit, as well as police dog services, both of which are en route to the community, the news release stated.

McDonald is described as six feet tall and 143 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black and white Ecko sweater and black pants.

Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation is about 65 kilometres west of Thompson, or about 670kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Anyone with information is asked tocall the Nelson House RCMP at 204-484-2837.
