Daughter of missing Winnipeg man pleads for safe return

Amber Ball just wants her dad to come home.

Her father Donald King, 63, hasn't been seen for a week and his family is worried about his well-being.

"We love him and we miss him and we want him home," said Ball Tuesday night.

Family members were in the city's south end Tuesday evening searching for clues about King's disappearance.

They've been searching shelters, hotels and posting pleas on social media and relatives are getting missing posters ready to put up. Ball said her dad likes to go off the grid for a couple days at a time, but has never gone missing for this long. She said her dad doesn't have any enemies and the disappearance has left the family puzzled.

"My dad's the kind of guy that everyone remembers and loves."

Ball said his roommates told her that her father, who lives with depression, had been drinking on Oct. 3 the day he went missing from his home in the city's Windsor Park area.

Bear Clan to search Wednesday

Police traced King's last cell phone ping to near a hotel in the Windsor Park area, but haven't been able to find him, she said. King's car is still at his house but medication he takes wasn't left at the house, Ball said.

Ball gave a plea to anyone who may have seen her father while taking a break from organizing search efforts Tuesday night.

"Someone will know where he is, someone will see him and I just hope that person speaks up and lets us know," she said. "We're not going to stop until we find him."

The Bear Clan Patrol will search for King Wednesday if he still hasn't been found, said James Favel, the patrol's executive director.
