Northern Manitoba highway named worst road by CAA voters

With more than 6,100 votes and more than 100 comments on Facebook, CAA has released its fourth annual list for Manitoba's worst roads.

With more than 6,100 votes and more than 100 comments on Facebook, CAA has released its fourth annuallist for Manitoba's worst roads.

CAA launched this year'sWorst Road Campaigna month ago, asking Manitoba drivers to identify the province's worst streets, avenues, and highways.

Topping the list is Highway 280.

"Manitoba [Highway]280, the only road connecting northerncommunities likeGillamand Split Lake toThompson, has not only been nominated for this dishonour, it hasdethroned long-standing St. James Street in Winnipeg," which is the reigning worst roadsince2013,a CAA news releaseearlier this month said.

Hundreds ofpeople shared their stories,including struggles with stone chips, washouts andmuddy conditions, according to CAA.

CAA says potholes aren't the only problem plaguing Manitoba streets, they hope this campaign willpinpoint roads that need to be fixed, or ones with infrastructure issues, like traffic congestion or pedestrian safety.
