Organ installed at MTS Centre in time for 2016-17 NHL season

The Winnipeg Jets are bringing back some vintage sounds this season to go along with the vintage Heritage Classic jerseys.

The Winnipeg Jets are bringing back some vintage soundsthis season to go along with the vintage Heritage Classic jerseys.

True North Sports & Entertainment has installeda six-keyboardorgan synthesizer in the upper bowl of MTS Centre, the company that ownsthe Winnipeg Jets announced Tuesday.

"The organ will be located in a custom-built booth in the upper bowl behind the last row in section 318," the team states on its website.

The organ technically, six MIDI weighted keyboards that produce organ and other soundswill be tested during the pre-season, said True North vice-presidentRob Wozny.

It will be up and running for the Jets home opener on Oct. 13. Though the organhas been installed in time for the 2016-17 seasonthe first where the Jets are hosting an outdoor game, with player jerseys adornedwith a logo reminiscent of the 1980s WinnipegJets the keyboards will be a permanent facet ofMTS Centre, Woznysaid.

The Jets play the Edmonton Oilers at a heritage classic game at Investors Group Field on Oct. 22.

In addition to the organ, True North has installed new plexiglassin MTS Centre's upper bowl to eliminate obstructed views this season, Wozny said.

As well, the colour of the seats in one corner of the upper bowl have been altered to mimic the notch at the top of the Jets logo. That notch pointsnorth, Wozny said.

True North spent a total of $9 million worth of upgrades during the off season, Wozny said.
