Workplace safety investigating after pedestrian dies in collision with construction vehicle

Workplace safety investigators are looking into a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and construction vehicle in the Garden City Shopping Centre parking lot.

On Monday, a57-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle,police said in a news conference.

Workplace Safety and Health has opened an investigation in collaboration with Winnipeg Police Service, aprovincial spokesperson said.

The crash happenedin the mall parking lot near the former Sears location at about 3 p.m.

Police have identified the driver but continue to investigate, a police spokesperson said Tuesday.

The former Sears location is under construction, and construction materials and vehicles were in the parking lot.A truck was parked nearbyon Monday.
