Perimeter Airlines is apologizing to customers after "weather cancellations" caused a backlog.

In a statement Friday, Perimeter said it "voluntarily decided to conduct thorough investigations on [its] fleet."

On Saturday, the airline serving northern Manitoba posted on its Facebookpagethat wait times are longer than expected "due to the high amount of calls being made to our Call Center."

Transport Canada said it's inspecting Perimeter Aviation's operations "as part of our regularly scheduled oversight."

The company's Air Operator Certificate is still valid, the transport board said, and is not grounded.

Perimeter says it is partnering with other airlines serving the north to serve communities.

It regularly flies to Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay and Deer Lake, Ont., and Berens River, Brochet, Cross Lake, Garden Hill, God's River, God's Lake, Norway House, Red Sucker Lake, Shamattawa, St. Theresa Point, Thompson, Wasagamack and other Manitoba communities.
