Police investigating after man falls to death in Exchange
Winnipeg police treating 42-year-old man's death as suspicious
Winnipeg police are investigating a suspicious death after a man apparently fell from a building in the Exchange District Monday night.
There they found a 42-year-old man lying in the street. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died.
Members of the homicide unit are now investigating the mans death and interviewing a number of people.
On Tuesday, evidence tags marked spots of blood and clothing on the ground where the man fell, and officers used a tape measure to get the distance between a third-storey window of the hotel and the ground.
A man who identified himself as Paul, but did not want to give his last name, said he lives in the hotel and he heard noises from the suite above him last night.
"It sounded like it was a number of them. It was just escalating. It sounded like it was just a couple of people, then it sounded like there was more than two or three," he said.
"Then all of a sudden I heard a huge bang which woke me up, startled me like at about a quarter after 12."
