Boy, 16, suffers life-altering injuries after assault at Cross Lake high school grounds: RCMP

A 16-year-old boy was assaultedin a suspected altercation between two groups on the grounds of a high school in Cross Lake over the weekend.

A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after hewasassaulted ina suspected altercation between two groups on the grounds of a high school in Cross Lake, Man., over the weekend.

Cross Lake RCMP officers responded to reports of a possible stabbing on Saggitawak Road at around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, according to a Tuesday news release.

Information from multiple witnesses obtained by the RCMP suggests a group of youth were at the school when anothergrouparrived. RCMP said the two groups had a physical altercation andthe 16-year-old was severely injured.

The victim, who remains in critical condition at this time, had significantlife-altering injuriesand was flownover 500kilometres south to a Winnipeg-area hospital, where he has since undergone emergency surgery.

No arrests have been made in connection to the assault.
