RCMP surround home in Winnipeg's Charleswood neighbourhood

There wasa heavy police presence in Winnipeg'sCharleswoodneighbourhood on Thursday morning.

RCMPofficerssurrounded a home on Carlotta Crescent toexecutea search warrant in an ongoing investigation, according to a spokesperson.

Severalofficers remained on the scene in the early afternoon andexpect to be there for some time yet.

"The large police presence, initially, was to ensure the safety of the officers involved, and the public," said RCMPSgt. Bert Paquet.

"At this point, any further details could underminethe ongoing investigation. We will not be providing further details or interviewsuntil our investigation has been completed."
