Recount looms in Charleswood-Tuxedo

The prospect of a recount loomed in Winnipeg's Charleswood-Tuxedo ward following Wednesday's civic election, as city council candidate Paula Havixbeck defeated Jarret Hanna by a mere 56 votes.

Havixbeck garnered 4,190 votes to Hanna's 4,134.

Candidates have until Nov. 10 to file an application for a judicial recount.

Jim Moore, Hanna's campaign manager, said Hanna will ask for a recount. Moore said their tally shows just a 36 vote gap. He also saidmore than250 ballots in Charleswood were rejected by voting machines.

The race in Charleswood featured seven candidates, following the death last May of long-time councillor Bill Clement.
