The ManitobaLiberals promise, if elected, to remove the PST from salon services haircuts, pedicures, manicures and massagesthat cost more than $50. Salon services that cost less than $50 aren't subject to PST.

Leader Rana Bokhari said she hears a lotof complaints about the tax, which was introduced four years ago.

"This is one of the most blatant tax grabs on services used by women ever initiated by a government, and under the Manitoba Liberals, this injustice will be corrected. We believe that it disproportionately affects the wallets of women, and we don't believe it's the right thing to do, which is why we're going to remove it," she said.

Salon services over $50generate $7 million a year in PST revenue, Bokhari said, adding the Liberals are considering removing the PST from other services as well but are not ready yet to announce that.

The provincial election is April 19.
