Woman dead after crash between Sea-Doo and boat on Whitemud River

A boat andSea-Doocollided on a winding river in southern Manitoba on Saturday, leaving one person dead and another injured, RCMP say.

A boat andSea-Doocollided on a winding river in southern Manitoba on Saturday, leaving one person dead and another injured, RCMP say.

Police were called just before4:30p.m. to a bend onthe Whitemud River in the rural municipalityof Westlake-Gladstone, near Sportsman's Corner Campground.

A boat with five people aboard washeading north on the river when it collided with a southbound Sea-Doo with two people aboard, RCMP said in a news release on Monday.

The man and woman on the Sea-Doo were taken aboard the boat andtransportedto the campground where they were met by emergency crews.

A 39-year-old woman, who was thepassenger on the Sea-Doo,was pronounced dead on scene.The 31-year-old man who was driving the Sea-Doo wassentto hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both are fromPortage la Prairie, police said.

No one on the boat was physically injured.
