The search for missing Winnipeg woman, Cathy Curtis, has moved into day 10.

Volunteer searchers have been out since 9:30 a.m. Wednesday combing the St. James neighbourhood near the Grace Hospital where Curtis was seen leaving April 25.

"That is still the best, credible, positive sighting that we had for my mother so we do like to start there,"Scott Curtis told CBC News Wednesday, adding the group looks for clues or witnesses before fanning out.

Curtis said his mother's disappearance has begun to take its toll, adding he is taking the day to rest from mental and physical exhaustion."Very concerned still. It's been a very tough ordeal for us, all of us here, friends and family."

There have been various reported sightings, Curtis said, though none have been verified.

A spokesperson for Winnipeg Police said the investigation remains active. Police and volunteers have searched parks and outdoor spaces near the hospital. Police dive teams were deployed on April 29 to search waterways in the western part of Winnipeg.

"We know that the word is getting out and people are very aware of the disappearance," said Curtis, adding hope is what is keeping he and his family going.

"We do a lot of thinking and a lot of talking and we still believe that she's alive and well, and we're trying our best just to think what we would do in a situation like her's and who we could go to, or what places we could go to find solace or to find shelter."

Cathy Curtis is described as 5-foot-4, thin, weighs 85 pounds and has long white hair she often wears in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket, dark plaid pants and white sneakers.

Volunteers are asking people to check their properties andsurveillance video for any sign of Curtis.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact the missing persons unit at 204-986-6250.
