Man shot to death in Winnipeg's North End identified by police

A 27-year-old man shot and killed in Winnipeg's North End on Friday has been identified as Trevor Bodnarek.

A 27-year-old man shot and killed in Winnipeg's North End on Friday has been identified as Trevor Bodnarek.

The man, whoalso went by the last name Desjarlais, was killedaround 10 p.m. Friday at the front door of a row house atSelkirkAvenue and Parr Street.

He wasrushed to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Police spokesman Const. Rob Carver said there were other people in the residence at the time but none of them were injured.

"We have an individual at a residence, shot at his front door.That'sgot to beterrifying," he said. "Ahorrific incident, for sure."

Carver said the killing does not appear to have been random but he couldn't provide any information about why police believe that.

He did sayBodnarekis known to police, who areinvestigating the possibility of gang involvement in his death the 17th homicide of the year for Winnipeg.

No arrests have been made.
