Man charged in connection with shooting in Windsor Park

A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Winnipeg's Windsor Park neighbourhood.

A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting earlier this year in Winnipeg's Windsor Park neighbourhood.

Police were called on May9to a home on Agate Bay, nearNiakwaPark and Archibald Street,where a 31-year-old man was suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was rushed to hospital in stable condition.

The 27-year-old man turned himself in to police on July 12.

Police spokeswoman Const. Tammy Skrabek said the man had been identified as a suspect and he was aware of that.

"The suspect had discussionswith his lawyer and the lawyer, in turn, contacted police just to confirm what it's about," she said, adding the man then made the choice to turn himself in.

"It makes things a lot simpler for us."

Heischarged with aggravated assaultand a number of firearm-related offences.
