3 rushed to hospital after West End house fire

Three people were rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation and other injuries after a fire in Winnipeg's West End Tuesday morning.

Three people were rushed to hospital for smoke inhalationand other injuries aftera firein Winnipeg's West End Tuesday morning.

Aman and a womanwere in critical condition, and anotherman was listed asstable. Another two people were treated at a neighbouringhome but didn't go to hospital. Later on, a cat was found dead.

Crews were called out toSimcoeStreet betweenSargentAvenue andElliceAvenue at around 5:30 a.m.

Firefighterssay the flamesstarted in one house thenspread to the house next door.

The fire was declared to be out at about 9:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Investigators from the Winnipeg police major crimes unit and Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service are trying to figure out how the fire started.

"They will determine if it was suspicious and take it from there," said police spokesperson Const.Tammy Skrabek.
