Stiffer fines for distracted drivers in Manitoba: CAA survey

Manitobans are calling for tougher penalties for distracted drivers.

The fourth annual survey by CAA Manitoba revealed that 40 per cent of those surveyed believe tougher fines would help curb the problem.

Of 7,000 respondents, CAA said 99 per cent report seeing people talking and texting on their phone while driving.

Yet 82 per cent said it's unlikely these distracted drivers will be caught by police.

The survey comes out one day ahead of the fourth anniversary of the distracted driving ban in Manitoba.
