Woman stabbed to death at Winnipeg hotel

A 42-year-old woman was stabbed to death outside ahotel in Winnipeg's North End neighbourhood.

It happenedat about 8:30 p.m.Wednesday outside the Merchants Hotel at the corner of Selkirk Avenue andAndrews Street.

According to police, there was an altercation between a number of women at the front of the hotel when things turned deadly.

The woman was stabbed multiple times and rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.

It is thecity's ninth homicide of the year and fifth stabbing death.

No arrests have yet been made but several people have been taken into custody for questioning, police said.
