A load of counterfeitWinnipeg Jets jerseys destined to be sold in the city has been seized by RCMP.

The Canadian Border Services Agency and RCMP's federal enforcement sectionintercepted an air freight container with 190fakejerseysonSept. 29 in Winnipeg.

Thejerseys were manufactured in China and shipped to the city, RCMP said.

The retail valueof the jerseys isestimated to be in excess of $76,000.

The shipment included home and away jerseys containing players names and numbers, butthe colours and the quality are poor, said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Miles Hiebert.

Hiebert said that with the soaringpopularity of Jets wear, the public needs to watch out for this kind of thing.

"It was just a matter of time until we intercepted copies of the official Jets jersey" added Cpl. John Montgomery of the RCMP's federal enforcement unit.

"This was very quick, as the Jets just released the official jersey a few weeks ago."

InAugust, the RCMP seized a shipment of 40 counterfeit jerseys featuringthe Jets new logo and shoulder flashes just weeks after the team unveiled the logo.

However, the actual jerseys hadn't yet been unveiledand the fakes didn't contain the light blue colours that would later be revealed as part of the official uniform.

The authentic jerseys were unveiled in September.
