Water park pitched for The Forks

Negotiations are underway with a developer for a hotel and water park at The Forks in Winnipeg.

Mayor Sam Katz said it would be operated by a hotel and built on city-owned land.

The city would give $7 million to the project on the condition the waterpark be available for public use.

"There now are two proponents, I guess. There's the hotel side, as well as probably one of the world-renowned waterslide builders, as well, that's part of the equation.

"So the credibility is extremely high in that case."

A previous attempt by Canad Inns to put a water park at Polo Parkfell through a few years ago.
