RCMP are investigating after a cab driver was stabbed when dropping off passengers in The Pas.

A 54-year-old cab driver picked up four passengers just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to RCMP. When he stopped the cab to drop them off, two men brandishing edged weapons attacked and stabbed the man in an attempt to get his wallet, said RCMP.

A fight broke out, resulting in one of the suspects being stabbed.

The cab driver was air-lifted to Winnipeg to be treated for his injuries, which are non-life-threatening.

One of the suspects was taken to a hospital in The Pas for treatment.

A 19-year-old man and 23-year-old man, both from Opaskwayak, are facing charges of aggravated assault and robbery.

A woman who was in the cab at the time of the assault has been interviewed and released by officers.

RCMP are now looking for another woman who was in the car at the time of the robbery in order to interview her.
