3 teens charged in string of armed robberies, assaults in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police seized a stolen vehicle, a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgunand a can of bear mace when they arrested three teens wanted in a string of violent break-ins and robberies.

The first robbery was a home invasion before 4:30 a.m. on July 21. A house on Rannock Avenue in Charleswood was broken into and the residents were pepper sprayed and robbed, police said. A vehicle was then stolen by the robbers, who sped off.

The second happened around6:30 a.m. on July 23 onWendon Bay in Tyndall Park, where two people, one with a gun, forced theirway into a home then assaulted and robbedtwo residents.

One of the residents was taken to hospital and treated for numerous cuts and bruising while the othersuffered minor injuries, police said.

An hour later, at 7:30 a.m., two boyswere riding their bikes in the area of Aberdeen Avenueand Salter Street, in the North End,when a male youthpointed a gun at them, ordered them to get off of their bikes, and chased them a short distance, police said.

The boys escaped without being injured.

Three people were arrested and charged in connection with all three incidents later the same day.

An18-year-old man is charged with 20 offences, including several counts each ofassault,armed robbery,break-and-enter, and theft, as well as 12 firearms-related offences.

A15-year-old boy is charged withbreak-and-enter, theft, robberyand failure to comply with court conditions.

A17-year-old girl ischarged withbreak-and-enter,theft, robbery, armed robberyand possession of property obtained by crime.
