Teghan's top 5 things to do in Winnipeg this weekend (May 27-29)

This weekend is not one of those weekends you stay in and recover from last weekend.

Pride week kicks off, the WAG is opening their Chagall and Warkov exhibits, Mark Forward is doing a taping in South Osborne and Doors Open is on all weekend for free!

There's also a country show with some amazing local voices happening Friday at Times Change(d) that would make a very lovely date.

WHAT: MUSIC Trio at Times Change(d)

When: Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Where: Times Change(d) at 234 Main St.

Cost: $15 (Advance tickets available for early show only)

Keri Latimer, Jess Reimer and Vanessa Kuzina will be back at Times Change(d) this weekend for another tribute to the album Trio.

It was a 1987 collaboration with Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, and it's pretty magical.

They've done this show before, and Times Change(d) is a great venue for some well-aged country.

There are advance tickets available to the early show, but the late show only has tickets available at the door.

I'd go early for either show if you want to get in, Times is a tiny venue.

WHAT: ART Chagall/Warkov opening at the WAG

When: Saturday, May 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: The Winnipeg Art Gallery at 300 Memorial Blvd.

Cost: FREE

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is opening their new Chagall and Warkov exhibits Saturday night with a free public viewing.

There are three shows Chagall: Daphnis & Chloe, Chagall & Winnipeg and Esther Warkov: Paintings opening Saturday, and you can check them all out between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

These should be super accessible exhibits with a (free) talk beforehand to give you some background on exactly what you're looking at.

I'd check this one out early and then head to the Dai Burger show just down the street but maybe leave time for a costume change. Or don't and be fancy for the whole night? That would be cool too.

WHAT: PRIDE Dai Burger at The Good Will

When: Saturday, May 28 at 9 p.m.

Where: The Good Will at 625 Portage Ave.

Cost: $15 advance, $20 door

Pride is finally here and you can celebrate at a party at The Good Will Saturday night!

Dai Burger is in from NYC and locals Andy_2_k and Kelly Babeyy will be spinning.

Dai Burger is a queer female hip-hop artist who you maybe would know from being in Beyonce videos but who is now becoming a big deal for her own music.

If you were at or were into or wished you had gone to the Cakes da Killa show at this venue, this will be a good one to check out.

And if hip hop isn't your thing but dancing is, Andy_2_k will be DJing for a bit. He's the guy from the Pop Tart parties at Good Will with DJ J. Jackson, which are the most fun.

WHAT: ARCHITECTURE Doors Open Winnipeg

When: Saturday and Sunday

Where: Various locations

Cost: FREE

Doors Open is on in the Exchange and a whole bunch of other spots this weekend.

If you're not familiar, the city opens up a ton of buildings to the public (mostly heritage buildings) and you can take free tours of different areas with architects and heritage types.

There's a tour of spots that are allegedly haunted on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Tours of the Exchange start Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Old Market Square, and if you aren't into walking between the buildings, there are free trolley tours that stop at buildings in the Forks Market, at Provencher and St. Joseph, Fort Gibraltar, Old Market Square, Portage at Smith, Broadway at Kennedy and at Union Station.

The trolleys run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

This is a nice post-brunch thing, and I would go after checking out Clementine on Princess Street. It's beautiful and the food is so good, and you'll for sure want to walk around and check stuff out after!

WHAT: COMEDY Mark Forward at the Park

When: Saturday, May 28 at 4:15 p.m. (podcasttaping) or 7:15 p.m. (show)

Where: The Park Theatre at 698OsborneSt.

Cost: $20 for one show, $25 for both

Mark Forward is back at The Park Theatre this weekend for apodcasttaping and stand-up show.

Forward has a long-standingpodcastand has been on a bunch of Canadian shows likeLetterkennyand Mr. D. He's also been through town a few times for the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

He seems to really like doingpodcasttapings at The Park Theatre in May he was here last year at the same time, and it was packed.

You can get tickets to either the taping or the show, or both for an extra $5.

If you're looking for cheaper comedy this weekend, Tim Gray is back with his series at Wee Johnny's Friday night. That show is $5 and has some of my local favourites, Dana Smith and SpencerAdamuson the bill.

Plus, food is cheap and there's adult musical chairs afterwards, which can get super competitive so be prepared.
